How a Paragon Tour Day Works

Every Paragon Day Tour follows the same simple shape, with timings adjusted to suit the tour and your sailing or flight schedule. The standard tour is four hours total, typically with a 10:00 collection from your cruise terminal or hotel and a return around 14:00 — comfortably ahead of cruise check-in for the standard 17:30 sail-away.

Your driver collects you at the agreed time, runs the tour with the visit length set out on each tour page, and returns you to your pickup point. The itinerary can be adjusted on the day if something catches your eye. Extra time beyond the standard four hours can be arranged directly with your driver at £40 per hour (or part thereof, in 15-minute intervals).

Windsor Castle in particular must be pre-booked online at rct.uk before the day. We are happy to advise on which sites need pre-booked timed tickets and which can be bought on arrival.

What is the difference between a Day Tour and a Transfer Tour?
A Day Tour is a 4-hour round-trip — typically a 10:00 collection from your cruise terminal or hotel, the tour itself, and a return around 14:00. Day Tours are designed for cruise passengers with time before sail-away. A Transfer Tour is one-way — we collect you in Southampton, run the tour en route, and finish at a London airport, hotel, or other onward destination.
How long is a Day Tour?
Four hours total — including travel time and visit time. The standard schedule is a 10:00 pickup from your cruise terminal or hotel and a return around 14:00, comfortably ahead of a typical 17:30 sail-away. Can I do the Windsor Castle or Stonehenge Day Tour before my cruise sails?
These two tours are at the longer end of the Day Tour range — Windsor is 90 minutes each way, Stonehenge is 75-90 minutes each way. They can only be booked as a Day Tour for ships sailing later than 17:30. Some ships depart at 16:00 and some at 19:00 — please check your sail-away time with your travel agent or cruise line before booking. If your sail time is too tight, you can still book either tour as a one-way Transfer Tour ending at a London airport or hotel.
How much does a private tour cost?
Tour fares are fixed prices per vehicle (not per passenger), based on the tour and the vehicle size — saloon (1-4 passengers), MPV (up to 6), or minivan (up to 8). Use the booking form on this page to get an instant quote for your tour, group size, and date.
Are entry tickets to attractions included in the fare?
No. Entry tickets are not included and should be booked directly with the venue. Windsor Castle in particular must be pre-booked online at rct.uk before your tour day. Stonehenge, Salisbury Cathedral, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, and other paid attractions all have their own ticketing — we are happy to advise on which need pre-booked timed slots.
Can we change the itinerary on the day?
Within reason, yes. If your driver suggests an alternative or you want to extend your time at a particular stop, this can be agreed on the day. Significant extensions (extra hours, additional stops) are charged at £40 per hour, in 15-minute intervals.
What if it rains?
Most tour stops are indoor or partly indoor — Windsor Castle, Salisbury Cathedral, Winchester Cathedral, the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. New Forest tours are largely outdoor (the scenery is the point) but the route can be adjusted to favour villages and indoor stops if the weather is poor.
Can a tour finish at Heathrow, Gatwick, or a London hotel?
Yes — that is exactly what a Transfer Tour is. Choose Transfer Tour at the booking form, select your finishing destination, and we will combine the tour with the onward journey on a single fixed fare. This is the most popular booking format for cruise passengers heading home with a flight to catch.
